What the client requested

What the client requested

”Our immediate goal is to onboard the first four artists and deliver their MVP applications using the existing codebase. The timeline is tight, so the initial focus should remain on the agreed MVP scope and making effective use of the technical infrastructure, which is already available.

Following the first deliveries, we plan to refactor the codebase to improve its scalability and make future artist onboardings more efficient.”

The team we set up

  • iOS developers
  • GO developers
  • UI/UX designer
  • QA engineer
  • DevOps engineer
  • Solution architect
  • Project manager
  • Performance engineer

Tech challenges we had to address

We investigated the existing codebase and identified several major technical obstacles that made the first phase of the project particularly challenging, especially given the tight delivery timeline.

Fragile architecture

The existing monolithic structure had become difficult to scale, maintain, and extend for future artist onboardings.

Operational gaps

Manual processes, limited monitoring, and missing security guardrails increased operational complexity and risk.

Scaling issues

Single-instance limitations, uncontrolled data growth, memory leaks, and risky deployments created clear barriers to reliable growth.

Finding the right balance between delivery speed and quality

''We were working against a very tight deadline, and the state of the existing architecture presented significant challenges. There was no time for a major refactor during the first phase, so the team had to thoroughly investigate the codebase, identify both obvious and less visible issues, and find practical solutions through changes that balanced speed and quality.

The scope also evolved continuously, so we worked closely with the client to clarify priorities, evaluate different delivery options, and focus the available time on the features that mattered most.''

Improving the app’s core

Improving the app’s core

First, we improved the infrastructure by automating deployments and environment management with GitHub Actions, CI/CD, Terraform, and Ansible.

The AWS setup was also expanded across ECS Fargate, EC2/ALB, ECR, MemoryDB, PostgreSQL, CloudFront, S3, IVS, SES, and IAM to support the app’s growing workload and different services.

Finally, we made significant changes to the backend:

  • Added and updated API endpoints to support new and existing platform features
  • Optimized the Golang backend and QVMP transport layer to improve performance
  • Enhanced real-time communication using FlatBuffers and WebSockets
  • Refined the architecture with nanomachines, event streams, and a distributor
  • Strengthened authentication with WebAuthn, OTC, JWT
  • Added multitenancy support for multiple app environments

Functional components we revamped

Artist side

The team enhanced tools for content creation, audience engagement, and event management.

  • Create and delete text, video, and audio posts
  • Go live and interact with fans
  • Create and manage channels
  • Add in-person and streaming events
  • Scan event tickets
  • Create polls for audience engagement

Fan side

We improved features that help fans engage with artists and access exclusive content.

  • Sign up/in, update profiles
  • View, comment, like posts
  • Buy or cancel subscriptions
  • Upload content to allowed channels
  • Buy event tickets, access exclusive posts, and chat with artists
  • Watch live streams, vote in polls, and interact in messages
  • Purchase personalized videos and merchandise

Web dashboard

We also expanded configuration, branding, and technical support for the platform.

  • Configure and manage app settings
  • Customize app branding
  • Support client-side dashboard functionality
